Q.
Industry analysis: historical
What resources will help me analyze an industry over time?

A.

For historical industry overviews & reports, use the following resources:

  • S&P Net Advantage Industry Surveys: Click on "Industries" from the top menu. Open an industry survey of your choice. Once you are in the survey, you can change the date on the top of the page for historical content.

  • IBISWorld: Search for the industry you are looking for. Click into a report of your choice ("Fast Food in the US," e.g.). At the top of the report, click on the books icon for the backfile of reports on the topic.

  • LSEG Workspace industry reports: See our Fast Answer on how to find industry analyst reports. Change the date range in the search to "All" to capture historical reports. For a multimedia learning module on LSEG Workspace check out our Learn with Baker Library LSEG Workspace Introduction.

For additional historical analysis of an industry, you can search for articles in Factiva, ABI, and/or Business Source Complete.
