Capital IQ
Data on PE transactions, public and private companies, investment firms, and people. Provides sophisticated retrieval and personalization tools to create numerous reports. You can even set up alerts for new company or firm developments and transactions. Sign up for a personal account here.

Refinitiv Workspace

Preqin
Information on PE & VC firms, funds, private companies, and deals.

REIS
Search millions of real estate data points that cover every commercially zoned property in the U.S. Provides trend and forecast coverage across 10 major commercial real estate sectors, 275+ markets, and 3,000+ submarkets. Includes market transactions and performance trends.

FactSet
A comprehensive platform used to analyze financial data from global equity and fixed income markets, and public and private companies. Also includes private equity information. Individual accounts needed. Please see More Info page for instructions.

CB Insights & Industry Analytics
CB Insights is a private company database that tracks global venture capital, angel investment, private equity, M&A, and IPO activity related to private companies.​ Note: Individual account required. Alert feature available.

VCPE Research Guide
A great starting place for research on the venture capital and private equity industry; this guide points to the best resources available to the HBS community.

Company

Capital IQ
A range of public and private company and industry information worldwide. Includes company profiles, financial data, direct investments, and comprehensive transaction screening. 

Orbis
A global database containing information on millions of companies, including private entities. Most U.S. private company data is sourced from Dun & Bradstreet.

Refinitiv Workspace
Features market quotes, earnings estimates, financial fundamentals, ESG data, press releases, transaction data, corporate filings, ownership profiles and sell-side equity research.

FactSet
Platform used to analyze financial data from global equity and fixed income markets. Coverage includes data and information on ownership and private equity and venture capital investments.

Industry

ABI/ProQuest
Business Monitor International Industry Reports - Click "Browse" and in the "Industry and Market Reports" section, select BMI Industry Reports.

IBISWorld
Provides research reports on industries in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and China. Industry risk reports are available.

Emerging Markets Information System (EMIS)
Select a country from the list. Using the Industries tab at the top of the page, search for industries. Limiting the search to "Research" will limit the results to recent market, industry and sector reports. Also, a good source for news.

S&P NetAdvantage
S&P Industry Surveys cover industry trends, forecasts, major players and market share data, key ratios, and statistics. Click on the "Industries" tab on the top menu bar. Index on the left has links to Industry Surveys (U.S.) and Global Industry Surveys.  Industry profiles contain section on "How to Analyze an Industry".
