Water: reserves and usage
Where can I find data on water reserves and usage by country?

  • World Water Development Report published by UNESCO; provides comprehensive review of the world’s freshwater resources. The latest report launched in March 2012. (See HOLLIS for availability of earlier reports.)
  • World Water Resources and Their Use: A joint SHI/UNESCO database include the following parts:
    • World water resources at the beginning of the 21st century
    • Information about world water resources
    • Information about world water use & water availability
    • Discharge of selected rivers of the world
  • Selected data tables from World’s Water series by Pacific Institute
  • AQUASTAT: Water usage database from the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations); provides water withdrawal by sector, source and water usage by country and region.
