Mergers & Acquisitions: deal type

How can I find deals of specific types, such as spinoffs or LBOs?


A.

Capital IQ

  1. Select Screening and click Transactions
  2. In section, General Transaction Details (on the right) select features.
  3. Select from the available types, e.g., Spinoff, Buyback, Bankruptcy.
  4. For more detailed types, see other menus, e.g., M&A Details (includes LBOs, joint ventures) or Buyback Details  (upper right) and then select Features 
  5. For even more types, use the search box right above the screening criteria to search for data points.

SDC

  1. From the Database Selection window Mergers & Acquisitions tab, select U.S. Targets and/or Non-U.S. Target, and click OK.
  2. Select a preset or custom date and click OK.
  3. From the Deal tab, scroll down and double-click on Deal Type.
  4. Select desired deal type(s) and click OK.
  5. Click Close and continue with the rest of the search.
