Historical and forecasted economic statistics

Where can I find historical and forecasted economic statistics worldwide, such as GDP and interest rates?


A.

Economist Intelligence Unit:  

  1. From the Data menu at the top of the page, select Data Tool from the drop-down menu that appears.
  2. In Step 1, choose All CountryData from the drop-down. 
  3. In Step 2, choose the region or country and click ADD.
  4. In Step 3, choose series.  Use Filter by keyword option to search for keywords, e.g., GDP or interest rates. 
  5. Choose desired series and click ADD.
  6. In Step 4. Choose year and click ADD.
  7. In Step 5. click View Data.

IMF eLibrary

  1. From the main menu at the top of the page click IMF DATA.
  2. See section for Data by Indicator, e.g., for interest rates, click Interest Ratesfor GDP click GDP and Components.
  3. On the data page, choose from the drop-down menus provided to select the Country, series options, and desired date(s).

Global Financial Data:  Time series data for individual countries back to the 1800s, and further in some cases.

  1. Log in Anonymously.  For frequent use, create an account for a personalized experience.
  2. Expand GFDatabase menu (default)
  3. Select a country or region, e.g., United States.
  4. Select from the Series Category filter, e.g., to get GDP choose National Accounts or for Interest Rates choose Fixed Income.
  5. Select from the Main Indicators filter, e.g., GDP or Central Bank Rate
  6. Enter desired Start year and End year.
  7. Click Search.
