Q.
Business conditions in countries worldwide

How can I find out about business conditions in countries worldwide?

A.

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU): Country Commerce reports provide information on business practices and regulations such as setting up a business, human resources, and intellectual property, taxes, and trade policy.

  1. Under My Reports and Services, select Country Commerce from the drop-down menu.
  2. Choose the desired country.
  3. Choose the desired year.  Reports are available back to the 1990s.

Doing Business: World Bank country profiles covering topics such as starting a business, taxes, contracts, getting electricity, and licenses.  Scores and rankings are provided.  Browse by an economy or a topic. Note: this program was paused after data irregularities were identified for 2018 and 2020.  The program will resume with new methodology as the Business Readiness project.

Country Commercial Guides (CCG): International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce reports about the business environment in countries. Information is directed at U.S. companies entering or expanding into new markets.
