Where can I find company R&D expenditures?

R&D expenses are found in a company's income statement which can be found in:

You can also obtain this information from Compustat in WRDS (helpful if you need to historical figures or are working with large data sets/lists of tickers):

  • In WRDS, go to Compustat - Capital IQ-->North America Daily-->Fundamentals Annual.
  • Next, choose your dates and enter your company in Company Code.
  • Under Variable Types, scroll down to XRD - Research and Development Expense
  • Select Submit Request.
