Q.
Companies: date of original initial public offering

Where can I find out when a company went public?

A.

Use LSEG Workspace to search for a company's IPO. Data is only available for companies from 1985 to the present.  For a multimedia learning module on LSEG Workspace check out our Learn with Baker Library LSEG Workspace Introduction.

You can search by date to locate all companies that went public during a specific timeframe:

  • Type 'Screener' into the main search bar along the top of the page to load the Screener App.
  • Change the Universe to Deals and Asset Class to Equity.
  • Under the Quick Filters section, add Issue Date and Issue Type
  • Enter a timeframe for the Issue Date, and for Issue Type check off IPO.

To search by Company:

  • Type the company name or ticker into the main search bar along the top of the page and click on the company to load the overview page.
  • Scroll down the main overview page to see the IPO date.

You can use SDC Platinum to go back as far as 1970 for domestic public offerings.
