Retired Harvard Business School Cases

Instituted in 1920s, the case method continues to be a cornerstone of the HBS academic experience. The HBS Archives in Baker Library Special Collections holds over 50,000 retired cases, starting from the first cases published in 1921 through cases removed from Harvard Business Publishing in the early 2000s. To learn more about the storied history of cases, please see the exhibit From Inquiry to Action: HBS and the Case Method

Please contact Baker Library Special Collections to learn more about, and for access to, retired cases. To request a retired HBS case, use the request form below. It is helpful to provide a case number, author or title in your request.

Copies of active cases may be searched and purchased through Harvard Business Publishing.
