HBS Alumni Research Tips: Finding Market Data & Insights

How can alumni search for market data, trends, and insights?

Statista is a user-friendly aggregator of statistical data from more than 20,000 sources worldwide. Follow instructions to register for a free premium account.

Search for statistics:

1. Enter keywords in search box on home page, e.g. online travel booking China.

2. Results are displayed as graphics, which can be downloaded in a number of formats, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

3. Click “Source” to the right of the chart to view source description and link to the original sources of the data.

Browse by industry:

1. On the home page, choose “Statistics” from the top menu bar.

2. Select an industry of interest to see most popular statistics and other highlights for each industry.

GlobalData Disruptor covers technology focused innovations, trends, and consumer insights. Areas of focus include artificial intelligence, blockchain, connected devices and IoT, digital business, robotics and drones, and security tech.

  • For industry information click on sectors.
  • For trends and insight click on analysis. There are many frameworks for analysis here such as Insights & Trends, Consumer Insights, Thematic Analysis, Case Studies, Models & Forecasts.

Morningstar Investment Research Center provides access to analyst research and investor education resources.

  • Morningstar Insights provides research publications and articles on investment and personal finance. 
  • Economics and Markets provides articles and reports on economic outlook and market conditions.
