Q.
HBS Alumni access to the Stamps Reading Room
Can HBS alumni get a photo ID to enter the reading room?

A.

HBS Alumni are eligible for free lifetime physical access to the Stamps Reading Room during Service Hours after completing a brief application.  Two types of cards are available, you can choose the one that is best for you:

  • Paper card: for alumni who visit campus occasionally. This process takes a few minutes within the Baker Library.
  • Plastic photo ID: for alumni who visit campus frequently. This process typically takes two days and involves a visit to the Operations Desk in Shad Hall for a photo.

All HBS Alumni are eligible to complete the three-step process for getting a photo ID. The process is outlined below:

  1. Complete the application form in the Stamps Reading Room (Baker Library | Bloomberg Center, 3rd floor) and wait for confirmation before going to step 2.
  2. After confirmation from library staff, visit the HBS Operations Service Counter (Shad Basement) to have photo taken.
  3. Within one business day, HBS Alumni may return to the HBS Operations Service Counter to pick up their HBS ID and it’s ready to use for entering the Stamps Reading Room.

All applications must be made during regular Service Hours

Applications for photo IDs may be made year-round, except during reunions.

PLEASE NOTE: Tap access will be provided during regular Service Hours
