Q.
HarvardKey for Alumni

I'm an HBS alumni. What's a HarvardKey and how do I get mine?

A.

HarvardKey is Harvard University's online user credential, which gives you access to university-wide alumni resources in addition to the HBS alumni resources you have access to through the HBS alumni portal.

Before you can claim your HarvardKey, you'll need to know:

  • Your Harvard Alumni Assocation (HAA) ID, which is found in the footer of any email you receive from HAA.
  • Which email address HAA has on file for you.

If you can't find your HAA ID, you can call the Harvard University IT (HUIT) Help Desk: 617-495-7777 or ithelp@harvard.edu. HUIT can also tell you which email address HAA has on file for you.

To claim your HarvardKey, begin here, and select Alumni as your user type.

Next, enter your HAA ID, Last Name and Degree Year in the fields as shown:

A confirmation email with an activation code will be sent to the email address on file with HAA. Click the link in the confirmation email to enter your activation code and set up your login name and password.

One last step: after you've completed your HarvardKey activation, you'll be asked if you want to sign up for two-step verification. HUIT recommends that alumni do not enable two-step verification.

For more information, watch the HAA's step-by-step video about claiming your HarvardKey.

Once you've claimed your HarvardKey, you'll be able to access additional library resources for alumni like JSTOR, American Medical Association journals, and more.
