What resources can I use for networking?

Bloomberg

  • For a specific person: Type the person's name and hit HELP, then choose PEOPLE.
  • To screen for people:

    • Type PEOP and hit GO for the People /search menu.
    • Fill in amber fields to specify age, education, organization (includes past work history), etc.
    • Type 1 and hit GO to begin the search.

BoardEx

  • Profiles on over 1M Directors & Senior Managers. This platform allows for historical individual searching, connections/networking as well as automatic tagged identifiers for Harvard affiliates/alumni.
  • The Boardex Private Equity Network module contains 950,000 leaders and decision-makers across 1,600,000 private organizations.  This module not available via WRDS.
    • Select Advanced Search to get to the screening template.
    • Select Sector and choose Private Equity. Add additional filters as needed.

Capital IQ

  • Under the Screening and Analytics tab, select People to screen by criteria such as company, location, and education.
  • Hover over the Companies tab at the top, in the Relationships section, select Relationship Paths to determine if there is an HBS connection to a specific person or identify the relationships someone has with other people.

Leadership Library

  • Background and contact information on leaders in business, government, nonprofits, and news media in the United States.  Compared to other company databases it may have more people listed per company and includes email addresses, but the display may not be as convenient.

Refinitiv Workspace

  • Type a company name or ticker into the main search bar and select the appropriate company to load the company overview page.
  • Hover over the ESG tab and select People Connections.
  • Type in the names and click Update View to see all connections.
